Description
Located in a remote part of Bedford County PA, south of Chaneysville, the Hewitt Bridge is along the road to McElfish's Mill (Township Route 306). Built in 1879, the bridge spans 79 feet, crossing Town Creek. It is county owned.
The sides are almost completely covered with vertical boards on the outside. Hewitt Bridge rests on a stone and mortar abutment. The bridge is driveable.

I love how you composed this to call attention to the circular support beam that spans the length of the bridge. I bet the bridge rumbles when you drive across it. They don't make them like this anymore.
