About Mary Beth Landis
Photographic images by Mary Beth Landis are of views in everyday life but with an angle…..literally. She sees the world in geometric shapes.
The majority of her work is in color. Colors have an impact that can overpower the basic shape of a single object or scene. Mary Beth sees the sights as a puzzle to discover the angles and shapes then selects a point of view that best captures the subject.
As a teenager she painted with oils on canvas but was dissatisfied that the paintings did not have sharp perfect lines and true colors. So she stopped painting and began writing poetry and short stories about everyday life as her creative outlet.
In the early 1980’s Mary Beth’s husband recognized her fascination with vacation pictures and bought her a professional camera. That was the beginning of the photographer’s creative expression of life through a camera lens. She was able to capture the sharp realistic lines and true colors of subjects.
Mary Beth has created fun photo essays and books featuring her pet Maltese.
Digitally enhanced as well as black and white photographs have recently been added to her collection.
More than 30 years in the world of photography and Mary Beth still has the intense fascination of colors and shapes viewed from unique angles.
